Transforming a life-long love of English into a career
I lived abroad until I was thirteen, and learnt my English attending international schools in South Africa and Iraq. I began to work as a translator, interpreter and teacher in 2004. In 2007 I graduated from the University of Trieste (Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori di Trieste) with a M.A. in translating and interpreting in English and German; I carried out the research for my thesis focused on subtitling while working for a subtitling company in Berlin. I worked for a year as a secretary as well as translating economic and financial texts for an accounting firm with offices in Treviso and Mestre, followed by a year as in-house translator and teacher for a translation agency in Treviso. I began working as a freelance in 2010, perfecting my technical and linguistic skills thanks to a Master in Traduzione Tecnica per Traduttori e Interpreti in Economia e Finanza (Specialist course in Technical Translation for Translators and Interpreters in Economics and Finance) at CTI Communication Trend Italia, and acquiring experience in the legal sector by attending courses on various types of contract, international contracts, corporate documents, compliance and code of civil procedure. I work for translation agencies, universities, training companies and private companies as a translator and interpreter, and organising English and Italian courses. I work in various sectors, and in the economic and financial ones, in particular.
